An increase in temperature, when applied to a mass of water, means expansion. On the scale of oceans, this expansion can result in the disappearance of many of today's lowland cities. Already over the last century, the earth has experienced a one foot of increase in the sea level. Currently, the West Antarctic ice cap and the Arctic ice cap are the two largest sources of frozen fresh water. Melting of these natural reservoirs not only will yield diminishing land areas but also will disturb the freshwater supplies and fishing industries, wreaking havoc to many third world countries that depend on fish for a living.

In addition to this, a loss of the worlds rainforests would result in a 2/3 reduction in rain fall in the equatorial regions of the world as well as parts of Eurasia and North America. This and the increasing temperatures would convert much of the world's now lush areas into arid plots of land
