Strange Attractors

If your browser recognized the applet tag, you would see an applet here.

This applet is very good at showing what kind of variety of fractals can be formed from the same formula by using different values. It generates quadratic strange attractors by randomly choosing coefficients for the formulas (read the chapter for details). Not all coefficients give figures that are fractal, though. The program searches for the first coefficients that do give a fractal figure and then displays it. You will see that figure while the program searches for the next strange attractor. One of the most amazing things about this applet is that because the variety of fractals it forms is so great, you will probably be the first person ever to see the fractals that it randomly displays!
