This applet creates fractals similar to fractal canopies, basing the shapes on the movement of the clock hands. When the clock hands move, they create images with constantly changing angle and position. The program takes it as the "generating image." It puts small versions of this image at the tip of every hand. It then puts even smaller images at the tips of the four small hands and continues the process several times. The finished image is a fractal, which can take a great variety of shapes depending on the positions of the original hands. When the hands gradually rotate, the fractal gradually changes, creating the beautiful effect you can see in the applet! Note, that just as the time on the clock eventually repeats itself, the fractals in this applet will repeat after some period of time. In order to make the program as fast and efficient as possible, we used recursion in our algorithm, which any programmer is probably familiar with.
