fractal experiments

I am fascinated with FRACTALS and have tried very hard to understand how they work. I downloaded a program (Ultra Fractal) already and have even began to experiment with fractals. My question is, do you have any ideas on how you can do a science project..(yes, a SCIENCE project) on fractals. I need to figure out a way I can make fractals an experiment. I thought about just doing a project on how to make a fractal, but I'm not sure. I'm looking for something more complicated, but not impossible. Have any good ideas? it would be extremely helpful coming from someone who knows fractals well. thanks
