This site is designed to be used in a variety
of ways by teachers and students. The site allows students to be
self directed or teacher directed. Work sheets are available in the
education office. These are in specific curriculum areas; Art,
Language, Information Technology, Drama and in four age groups for
students from 5 years to 18 years of age.
Art is the obvious focus of the site. Art teachers can address the
demands of an Art curriculum which includes the study and
appreciation of contemporary Art practice with this site.
Contemporary practice on this site is a presentation of signs and
traces of a network of cultural processes, experiences and
meanings. The site attempts to provide the opportunity for the
ideas of others to circulate around the works and attract a lively
engagement with the work.
The experience of artworks involves the exercise of our capacity to
analyse and to know, but also to perceive, to remember and to

communication of art. Contemporary Art Experience is the
discovering and communicating to others a dialogue about human
culture, values and spirit.
Information about the artists includes images of their work, their
ideas, images of their studio, a café of artists, interviews
with the artists, artists' curriculum vitae and quotes from
articles and journals.
The site encourages students to participate in reading and writing
analysis about some of the work. Students are invited to contribute
to ongoing discussion about the work and to invite others to visit
the gallery by sending an e card.
The Main Gallery consists of the work of the ten solo exhibitions
by contemporary artists.
Students may select one of the artists and go to their

of production, media and dimensions. Analysis of some of the work
by the artists and others is also included. Users are invited to
write their own analysis to add to this board and so contribute to
ongoing discussion about the work.
The educational objectives are to:
· provide a high quality resource for Art students and
teachers on Contemporary Art and artists. These artists, their
work, ideas and analysis are now accessible to a global
· encourage and foster analysis and communication of ideas
about art and the ideas
· promote interest in contemporary artists and their work
· utilise the source for teaching and learning in a variety of
teaching and learning areas
· promote the work of artists to a broad audience who would
otherwise not have access to this work
· raise awareness of the range of issues and concerns of
contemporary artists and hence society
· provide positive role models for girls
· promote the career of artist as a valuable and worthwhile
· promote the range of media, methods and materials used in
discussion about art and ideas
