WHAT IS LOCALLY FOUND IN MOST SOUTH AFRICAN CULTURES/AREAS ?
South Africa is faced with the challenge of providing food security for our people residing in the former homelands.Their food security needs includes -Access to affordable , safe , nutritious foods which meets their quality demands.-Traditional foods such as porridges(ting, phutu, maqebekoane) grouel(mageu ,lesheleshele) relishes(morogo, archar) and meals(poone and dikgobe tsa digawa) they form part of our South African culture. They are the staple food of the majority of our people and they are produced from locally grown foodstuff. However, those food are laborious to prepare , not generally available commercially and have a limited shelf life. Traditionally chickens are kept by ,the various enthenic groups and it is used as food .Chicken is consumed on a regularly basis .Chicken dishes are high preference items by all the enthenic groups.Poverty and unemployment as their one of the main problems in this Rainbow countrymost people in the rural even at urban areas do it the inside of chickens(chicken organs)such as liver , chickens legs(maotwana) ,neck(molala), intenstines of the chicken etc. The mentioned food are delicious for your information.
