4.  Red forest buffalo:  These buffalo are found in the forests of Central Africa.  The cows are red-brown in colour, while the bulls are much darker.  The red forest buffalo is a suspecies of the African buffalo,  which is found in South Africa.

5.  Babirusa:  This unusual pig is facing extinction in its natural habitat.  International breeding programmes in zoo are playing an important role in conserving them.

6.  White rhinoceros and smaller antelope: The world's first white rhinoceros to be born in a zoo was born this enclosure in 1967.  The white rhino has a broad mouth to enable it to eat grass.  In this enclosure you will also find the black-faced impala, a rare subspecies of the ordinary impala which originate from northern Namibia, and other small antelope such as steenbok and red duiker.  Also see the crowned crane and marabou stork.
