: Did you know that Darwin, on his deathbed, asked for
: his works not to be published any further?
I know that this is a myth commonly believed by creationists, but it's been refuted to death. Darwin's own daughter maintained that it was false.
:By Darwin
: renouncing his own works, he's trying to get a point
: across: that evolution is a poorly supported theory
: that shouldn't even be taught, published, etc.
On the contrary, evolution is one of the best supported ideas in all of science. Better supported, in fact, than the theories that helped design and build the computer you used to post your message.
: Unfortunately, I have this school assignment that's
: making me research human "evolution". It takes a lot
: of faith to believe in our ancestors as being apes.
I don't know whether to find it sad or funny that anyone who honestly believes, i.e. accepts as fact, that the universe was magicked into existence by some eternal, all-powerful, all-knowing sky pixie can seriously claim that evolution is far-fetched. Not only do these people have no understanding whatsoever of what evolution is or what the theories state, they apparently have no idea how utterly outrageous, even insane, their own claims sound.
: If it happened back then, why doesn't it happen now?
Evolution does happen now. It's been observed and documented. I'm sure the friendly folks in talk.origins will give you all the information you could ever want on the subject. A word of warning: don't proselytize, or you're likely to be flamed. Ask questions, and you'll get answers. Preach, and you'll get your butt kicked.
: I don't see any half monkey, half human beings walking
: around the streets of New York City these days.
Must not be the same New York I've been to. LOL Seriously, you creationists do seem to dearly love misrepresenting modern evolutionary theory, but unfortunately for your "case" against it, evolution does not state, as creationists claim, that "man came from apes." Rather, it states that man and apes share a common ancestor. Both the fossil record and genetic (i.e. DNA) evidence confirm this. There's a lot more to it than that, but time and space constraints force me to simplify. One question: do creationists simply not understand modern theories concerning evolution, or is the misrepresentation deliberate?
: There's so much more evidence supporting what the Bible
: has to say about creation than there is about evolution.
Please present one bit of testable evidence supporting your statement. Your personal beliefs are not evidence. Before you start, though, it's only fair to tell you that in 2,000 years no one has yet been able to present one single shred of real empirical evidence for the existence of God or the truth of the Bible. I doubt you'll be the first.
: A guy by the name of Dr. Kent Hovind, nicknamed Dr. Dino,
A well known liar and fraud.
: has set forth a challenge to the public. If anyone can
: prove the THEORY of evolution to him, a creation believer,
: then he will pay him/her a handsome amound of money...
: $250,000!! He is well educated on the matter of evolution
: and creation, so beware.
Hovind isn't very well educated in any field other than hoodwinking the gullible. His "degree" comes from an unaccredited diploma mill where anyone can obtain a degree in any subject without even attending classes, merely by paying a fee.
:It was formerly $10,000 but
: the amount has increased because no one has been able
: to prove the theory of evolution. I DARE ANY OF YOU
: WHO BELIEVE IN EVOLUTION TO COME TAKE THE CHALLENGE!
Hovind's "challenge" is as bogus as his credentials. Since the validity of any evidence presented will be decided by a panel of "creation scientists" (talk abut an oxymoron..) hand picked by Hovind himself, his so-called "challenge" is nothing but a load of hot air. Much like his "evidence" for creationism.

Been there, done that. It's truly pathetic in this supposedly enlightened day and age that anyone could take Hovind's drivel seriously. Hovind is a liar, a fraud and a con man who wouldn't know the truth if it bit him where he sits.
