The Optic Nerve

EyeMap
The optic nerve acts likes a cable as it transports seen images to the brain. It travels from the back of the retina into the optic chiasm, the optic tract, and finally to the optical lobe in the brain. At the beginning of the optic nerve, there is an optic disk. No cones or rods (photoreceptors) are located here. This is what causes a "blind spot" in each eye.
