Tornados may give you a warning. They sound like a huge
locomotive heading straight for you. Sometimes they hit you, sometimes they don't. Your town might
have warning sirens that you hear if a tornado is imminent. Sometime a tornado
might come YOUR way and threaten you. What should you do?
You should follow these directions........
When you hear that your area has a tornado warning, that means a
tornado has been spotted. Go to a safe spot in your house. A safe spot would be a place with no
windows. Tornados up air and create pressure in the areas around them. They are like
gigantic vacuum cleaners. Any windows near a tornado will probably break. If the window is open,
however, the chances of it breaking are slightly less. If you are in an automobile, get out!
Go to the nearest building or get into a ditch or other recessed place. If you don't stick up,
you will be less likely to get hurt. A piece of heavy furniture would provide extra
protection.
