Hypothermia is a cold-related condition. It can cause rapid death due to the body's inability
to keep warm after the core temperature is lowered. Some symptoms are shivering, numbness,
apathy, and loss of consciousness. To treat hypothermia you should call your local emergency
number first. Then make sure there are no life threatening problems such as
broken bones,
no breathing,
no heart beat
or any large
bleeding wounds.
If there are none, move the victim to
a warm place, remove wet clothing and replace it with dry clothes, blankets, and/or
sleeping bags.
