There is reference in the bible (Job) to something called a Bohemith that has a tail larger than the cedar tree. There are also legends of dragons in other texts and in anchient chinese history. The word dinosaur is very new. Another possibility is the verse that talks about their being "giants on the earth in those days". In any case, I've read about various experiments done on the sizing of the ark and based on the average size of animals and it's believe there should be plenty of room.
