One of the most well known English players in soccer today is Alan Shearer, starting forward of the English National Team. Born in Newcastle, England, on August 13th, 1970, Alan started his soccer career for the English club team Southampton. From there he moved to the Blackburn Rovers, and now he is playing for his hometown team of Newcastle United - for a record 15 million pound salary! Despite injuries, Shearer has come back strong and consistent for his club team, scoring more than 30 goals for the past 3 seasons. Alan has also been good for his country, currently residing as captain.
