How to get around this home page
If you had any difficulties navigating our site, we are very sorry, you can
flame us through the contact page. But finally you found
the help button and you are being helped now: read the stuff below and perhaps
you will get enlightened about the navigation around here.
Structure
The pages are called lessons here, and these are organised into topics. The
lessons inside the topics, and the topics inside the site also have a given
order. The topics are built on each other, from the very principles of physics
to the most sophisticated equations of relativity. Thus, if you are somewhat
educated in physics, you may want to skip some of the first lessons, and start
directly at the Lorentz - Fitzgerald Transformation. But also apart from that
there could be infinite situations when you do not want to follow the set
order of the pages, but step back somewhat to read the previous lesson again,
or check something in a basic topic, or just jump ahead driven by couriousity,
or saying 'oh boy, I know all these.. gimme something REALLY tough'... and
that's why we provided full movement in this web of pages, through the navigation
tools.
Navigation Tools
You have three navigation tools at your command: the Navigation Bar (NavBar),
the ArrowBar, and the text links.
NavBar
This is the great rectangle on the left, with the picture-fragment of Dalí
in disgusting green frame, and those funny little clockings everywhere. You
can flame MaXiGaS, the designer, if you feel it is ugly and chaotic and ouuhhh.
Below the picture there is a list of the topics, up to down from the easiest
to the toughest. You can click on a rectangle and it will take you to the
topic it enrectangles :). And then, certain thingies below are encircled,
these are more anti-intuitive links, descibed here: the question mark is a
gateway to this very place, the 'i' button gives you general info on the authors,
the project, the sources of information, and else. The remaining button plays
the animation of the NavBar, or stops it if it is being played. This button
serves no practical reason, but it is fun :)
ArrowBar
This should be found in the lower right corner of the window, looking rather
dull, uptil you move over it. If this happens, the arrow which you are over
comes alive, and in the centre you see where will you fly if you click. Upwards
you get to the topic that is before the current topic, in other words, what
is easier to understand. Downwards you get to a harder topic. If you jump
a topic, you always find yourself at the first lesson of the topic. You can
also move between the lessons with the horizontal arrows. For instance, if
you are at Systems of Coordinates, lesson 1, the left arrow moves you to the
last lesson of Unit Measurement Systems (note the list of topics on the upper
left of the screen), and the right arrow thrusts you to Systems of Coordinates,
lesson 2. Right? :)
Text links
These are at the bottom of the page, and follow the text of the lesson, so
that if you done reading the real stuff you come down to these. The next/back
links move you in the given order of lessons, just as just as the arrows of the ArrowBar,
and the 'Main Page' link is a teleport to the gate trhough which you entered
the whole complex; you know, where you have chosen the technical level and
the language. If you notice in an instant that your techno-chariot cannot
ride the high-level pages, you can switch down to the low-tech version from
here.
That's it for now, if you still
feel unconfortable, try the message board, or write an angry message to the
authors :)
