Decision Number Two

Below are two related programs that you will have to choose between.  The description of the program and its cost should help you to decide which you think would be best for Envirotown.

Home Recycling

Drop-off Recycling

$100,000

$85,000

Home recycling programs are provided by the city.  They often give recycling bins to citizens, who are expected to sort out their recyclable goods and place them in the bins.  When garbage is picked up, a special recycling pickup is done as well for all those who put out their bins.  Often, this is a much more successful approach than expecting people to bring their recyclable goods to a drop-off center.

Many communities that cannot afford to send recycling trucks around to pick up materials that have been sorted out by citizens instead choose to create a drop-off recycling center.  People can bring their recyclable materials here and the city will sort them and recycle them.  This system will probably be less successful than home pick-up recycling, but it is also less expensive.
