History is an important part of everyone's life, as it tells the stories of how we came to be and who we are. The history of Alaska's Natives is no exception. The people of the Koyukuk and Yukon River drainage areas had to live a very difficult life. Preparation was essential for survival. Summers were solely dedicated to harvesting salmon, gathering wood, trapping for furs, and trading supplies to last them through the long winter. It was a harsh life, but the people loved it for it was all they knew. Below are several stories of trials and tribulations that some Alaska Natives have encountered.
