Popular among ordinary Party members. His vain and proud character made him unpopular in the Poluburo. Believed that USSR should continue with the New Economic Policy and industrialise as soon as possible. Proposed 'Permanent Revolution' Was expelled from Party in 1927. Deported to Central Asia in 1928. He was exiled from the USSR in 1929. Murdered by Stalin's secret police in Mexico in 1940. |
