Witchcraft of Latin America

In ancient Latin America, there were the empires of the Aztecs of Mexico, Mayan of Central America, and Incas of Peru. The Aztecs and Mayan believed in human sacrifice to their gods. The Mayan also practiced divination. The Incas believed in offering their gods, instead of human sacrifices, animal sacrifices. Today in Latin America there are magical practices such as "voodoo" and "santeria." Voodoo is practiced mostly in Haiti and is considered a eerie magic. During the slavery days when slaves were captured from Africa and brought over to America, the slave ships usually stopped on the way in the Caribbean. Slaves were also sold here to work on the sugar plantations. With the slaves from Africa came their magical beliefs such as voodoo. This is how voodoo became a religion in Haiti. Also about voodoo, the well known Tituba of the Salem Witch Trials was brought over from the Caribbean. She must of practice voodoo of which was what she taught to Reverend Paris's daughter and friend. This is what supposedly started the Salem Witch Trails. The magical practice of santeria of Brazil is also considered eerie and is somewhat similar to voodoo. Also, the tribes of the Amazon rain forest of Brazil believe in protection and shamanic healing.
