The 1998 Player of the Year was Antawn Jamison from University of North Carolina. He was born June 12, 1976 in Shreveport , Louisiana. Jamison is a 6ft. 8 inches 216 pound forward from Providence High School . He left the University of the North Carolina as a Junior. He won the National Player of the Year , AP Player of the Year , The National Player Association of Basketball Coaches of the Year , and the Naismith award. He was drafted in the first round as the fourth overall pick by the Toronto Raptors then was traded to the Golden State Warriors for former teammate Vince Carter.
