Welcome to GeoNet Minnesota!

Welcome to GeoNet Minnesota: Internet Altas by, for, and sometimes, even about students. Maps produced for this project are of interest and importance to students everywhere. Our cartographers research topics of interest to their peers and produce thematic maps that will help internet users to analyze the spatial patterns illustrated by these maps.

This project is an effort to research and map aspects of the lives of children and students that might otherwise not be studied. Spatial variations in the lives of children and topics important to children/students are included in this internet atlas.

We are excited about going on-line so that other students and teachers will have access to the maps we have produced. We anticipate the involvement of other schools which could eventually lead to a chapter of maps for each state. For now, we are leading the way with the Minnesota chapter.

There are over twenty themes or topics to choose from when selecting a map that interests you. Check out our OTHER SITES OF INTEREST to find links to Alliances for Geographic Education in other states as well as other mapping sources.

You can become connected to our site as an internet learner. If you are interested in learning on-line information about cartography, we will set up peer tutors and an internet classroom for this purpose. Teacher and student materials will train you and your students in cartography. You may even submit maps to be published in our internet atlas. Teacher and student materials are available.
