Death of the Universe

There are two possible ways in which the universe will be destroyed. The first, by ice, is called the Cosmic Whisper. It will occur if the universe keeps expanding like it has been since the Big Bang. Eventually, the temperatures will reach zero or close to zero. In 10 years all stars will turn into black holes, neutron stars, or cold dwarfs, depending on their original size. Then in an additional 10 years, all the protons and neutrons will begin to decay. Since everything including human beings have protons and neutrons in them, it will be difficult to survive. It will be possible if we can find a way to live with only neutrinos and electrons. In a google (10) years from now, our universešs temperature will have nearly reached zero.

All intelligent life will freeze unless it lives near black holes which slowly leak energy, possibly to be used for machines and survival. Eventually, however, they will run out of energy and, unless another universe opens for us, we will freeze to death. This theory of our escape is not as phony as it sounds. After the Big Bang when the perfect ten-dimensional universe collapsed, the six dimensional universe shrunk while the four dimensional universe in which we live expanded. Some people believe that when our entire universe is being destroyed, our sister universe will open and people will be able to escape into it.

Another theory of the destruction of the universe is death by fire, called the Big Crunch. This is where gravity, which has been spinning away, will reverse and everything in the universe will come toward the center of the universe creating an enormous ball. Since they are condensing, the stars' temperatures will rise which, in turn, will turn everything into gasses. The atmosphere will be like a furnace and the planets will begin to disintegrate.

Intelligent life will attempt to flee into outer space in huge rockets. Yet in outer space it will be extremely hot. Everything will begin turning into plasma which is what the sunšs surface is made of. Big shields will have to be made for the rockets so they donšt melt. Soon protons will turn back into quarks, resembling the universe after the Big Bang.

Again our only hope for survival would be if our sister universe expanded and opened for us as an escape while our universe was shrinking. Regardless, eventually there will be another Big Bang and a new universe will be created.
