功率
功率 P 被定義為每單位時間 t (秒)所作的功或作功時的比率。
Power = W/t 單位:  瓦 Watts (W).  1 W = 1 J/s
W = 所作的功
t = 時間

功率為 P 的引擎 / 發動機在時間 t 裏所作的用是 W = P t

　

能量單位 (Energy units)

除焦耳以外，其它在能源工業常用的能量單位包括：
(i) 千瓦小時(kWh)：1 kWh = 3.6 MJ
(ii) 克卡(therm)：1 therm = 110 MJ
(iii) 英國熱量單位(Btu)：1 Btu = 1.1 kJ
(iv) 百萬噸煤當量(Mtce)：1 Mtce = 20 - 30 GJ

【註：1 kJ = 1,000J; 1 MJ = 1,000kJ; 1GJ=1,000MJ】
