Holding your SLR

The best way to take a picture is on a tripod. However, when a tripod is unavailable, it is important to know how to hold a camera steady.


Movie Requirements
Movie: Camera Positions

Stand Tall: Keep feet shouler distance apart firmly on the ground.

Rifleman Position: Seated posture with elbow braced at knee.

Wall Brace: Brace yourself against doorway or wall.

Use face as brace: hold camera with a firm but but relaxed, two-handed grip. For steadiness, press against face.
Vertical grip: Camera and right hand swing a quarter turn to the left, left hand stays put.
Upside down: flat camera back firmly against forhead for added support.
