Understanding Focus

The rays of the sun are focused on the paper when it begins to burn.
Focusing is the act of adjusting the lens-to-film distance so that the the subject is sharply focused. A subject is out of focus when appears blurred and surfaces are not detailed. Proper focus is achieved by either measuring or estimating the camera to subject distance. Unlike other cameras, SLRs can preview focus since their viewfinder views through the lens (TTL) to fine tune focusing.
