Actually, I've posted this pic in another Photo Group and I got the same response. Ligthening the scan, however, wouldn't do it as I would only lose the saturation in the sky and pickup little detail from the prahua ("boat") as you can show what's not there to begin with... I think this comes down to a cropping problem. I've left so much of the lower part of the composition (in a vain attempt to pickup some of the water) that it leads to an expectation that we should see "more" of the boat.

I think, had I cropped this just about in half, leaving only the top part of the prahua and thier masts, it would be more accepted as a "shiloutte"

p.s. I have a lovely redo of this shot using animation of the water below which did round out the shot better, but it runs a Java Script which may not run on this site.
