Shutter Speed

On most modern SLRs, the shutter speed is displayed with the aperture size on an LCD panel.
One of the most important variables of exposure is the shutter speed. Shutter speed determines the amount of time the film is exposed to light. The speed of the shutter depends on the aperture size, film speed, and other variables (see Understanding Exposure). The shutter speed is displayed on SLRs with numbers (explained in table below).

1=1 Sec. 60=1/60 Sec.
2=1/2 Sec. 125=1/125 Sec.
4=1/4 Sec. 250=1/250 Sec.
8=1/8 Sec. 500=1/500 Sec.
15=1/15 Sec. 1000=1/1000 Sec.
30=1/30 Sec. Bulb

An older SLR's shutter speed is controlled by a mechanical dial on the top of the body.
