Completely agree with the previous statement... it's best to read, then play with both and see which one, Canon or Nikon, you like best.

Having bought into Nikon, I have a natural prejudice that way for no other reason than it is too late (as in too expensive) to switch and the only regret that I have is that I like those Canon Lens Stabalizers! You might wanna consider that in your selection, as it is slightly ahead of Nikon at the moment, for that reason alone.
