Hi Gail,

I can only co-miserate. I was shooting a 2 year old N90 on my trip last year, when I, too, experienced shutter lockup. It would happen right after loading a new roll. The shutter would lock open and the it would show lens error. After a couple of taps and snaps it would work, but always after wasting an exposure or two (and missing a shot!)

BUt I'm not buying the "static electricity" comment. I was out in the field. Maybe dirty, maybe rough riding, but hardly static. I don't think Nikon knows what's going on either. I think it's just another reason to look at an F-series.
