First of all, I'm not professional photographer but I learned a lot from my Nikon FM2n. I suggest use the tripod and flash with normal reading of light speed or B and exposure . Set to manual, let the camera read for actual lighing without flash (might be 2-8sec) try to find darker background, later use portable flash-set at the short range, carry flash with your hand without attach any wire from flash to camera then fire the flash to object that moving duing taking picture. With 2-8 second will get the correct lighting or greater of back ground and flash will show the sharper moving object with movement. In one scene you can fire the flash many time as you like which will show the multiple object in one picture. Main thing is darker background and flash away from background like side way. Hope it will be other fun project for you.
