Reflex Mirror

Like many people on this discussion forum I have just recently purchased an SLR Camera (Canon EOS300)and have been over enthuisiastic in caring for my camera. Had bits of fluff etc on mirror and thought it would be a good idea to remove them using a lint free cloth and lens cleaning spray on the cloth. This now appears to have been a very bad bad idea Just what does the worst mean in terms of the mirrors' future and how bad are things really - is it the end of my camera !!
