HELP CANON ELAN 7 vs NIKON N80

I am new to photography. I decided rather than buy the entry level camera, I would invest some money into the next level of camera. I have narrowed my choices to two, Canon Elan 7 and the Nikon N80. I don't know which one to buy, both looks good. Can someone help?
