Main Activity

Project Name: Stars- The Quiz Game
Mission:
Split students into teams.
Travel to the stars lesson on this web site and gather information about stars.
Arrange a series of questions (around 6) and answers, and put the questions on one side and the answers on another side of 3x5 cards.
Ready a piece of tagboard with the star questions (in categories) that each team has developed on 3 x 5 cards, answer side down.
Start the game-- start with any team, and let them choose a category, then, ask the question, and, the first team to "buzz in" (you'll have to decide how the teams can say they are ready for the question, such as the first one to raise their hand) and if they get it right, then give that team a point, but if they don't subtract a point from their score (this may give them a negative score). If they didn't answer the question right, then ask the team that raised their hand second if the question. This process continues until one team can answer the question right. That team then receives a point, and chooses the next category. The team with the most points after all of the questions have been asked, wins.

Alternate Activities

1)
The fastest spaceship available (ones that
travel beyond Earth's atmosphere) now travels
at about 25,000 miles per hour. How long
would it take for the spaceship to travel to the
nearest star, after our sun, Alpha Centauri C (it
     is 4.3 light-years away)?
