The Solar System: Neptune

Neptune

Neptune, the eighth planet from the sun, is much differnet than its calm look. When Voyager 2 passed by Neptune, it discovered that winds were ripping through its atmosphere at a blistering speed of 1,400 miles per hour! It is very chilly, about -246° F, because of its distance from the sun. Neptune was discovered in 1846 only because of its gravitational pull on Uranus.
