Stars: How Do Stars Shine?
     The temperature at the center, or core of the sun is about 27 million ºF (15 million ºC). In the core, atoms have so much energy that they split apart, and come together again into a gas called helium. This process is called a nuclear reaction. It produces a burst of energy, which on Earth, we feel as heat, and see as light.
