Neptune looks like a cold, blue ball of calm gas. In fact, it is anything other then that. Voyager 2 discovered winds ripping through Neptune's atmosphere at more than 1,400 miles per hour. Hurricanes on Earth blow about 100 miles per hour. The wind on Neptune is 14 times stronger then that. However, Neptune is cold; it's temperature drops to a chilly -346º F. Those 1,400 miles per hour winds are the strongest winds in the Solar System. They travel in different directions depending on the planet's spin.
