The Vietnamese government is communist and consists of a national assembly, prime minister and a president. The national assembly is a group of 395 people elected every 5 years. The full group meets 2 times a year. The prime minister runs the government with the approval of 15 other people(the politburo). He or she is selected by the president, who's duties are mostly ceremonial. He serves as the head of state, commander and chief of the armed forces, and represents Vietnam in foreign affairs. And, like the members of the national assembly, serves a five year term.
The politburo is a group of 15 people that heads the communist party. The communist party is the only party and makes all of the decisions.
The Government runs all schools and controls the reading of books. If parents can not afford school books for their children, then they will not be aloud to go to school. It is also attempting population control. It does not recommend large families and rewards those with smaller ones.
