  AREA TWO:
HITTING THE WATER

<< Back

Anyone who has reached a certain age and has a certain level of fitness can scuba dive. As well as being healthy exercise, it's a fun way to explore a world previously unknown to humans. People dive for many purposes - photography and videography, archaeology, to challenge yourself, research, to see things like wrecks and marine life or sometimes even to see what all the hype is about.

No matter why you're doing it, starting to dive is always a little challenging. Thoughts like "Will there be dangerous animals down there?", "Will I have enough air"?, "Will I be able to breathe through my mouth?", "I hope we don't go too deep" and "Will I be able to equalize my ears?" float through your head. But once you are down there, you will marvel at all the fantastic colors and beauty of everything. You'll want to go further, try new things and, gaining more experience, you'll be even more self-confident.

In this area we have written a number of articles in the hope of giving you an idea about the equipment needed, the different types of diving (specialties), why people dive (why dive?) as well as information about starting to dive (basic diving).
