Swayne, Charles
Charles Swayne, a District Court judge of Florida, was impeached due to several offesive crimes like: wrongly jailing lawyers for contempt of court, padding expense accounts, using railroad property for his personal benefit, misusing contempt power, and living beyound the boundaries of his district. He had admitted to some of the crimes on February 27, 1905, when the Senat had acquitted him of all of the impeachable charges. The Senate felt that his minor wrongs did not live up to the standard as, "Treason, bribery, and other high crimes and misdemeanors".
