Humphreys, West Hughes
West Hughes Humphreys was a U.S. District Court judge of Tennessee, after accepting an appointment with the Confederate judiciary, without giving up his U.S. judgeship, Humphreys fled the Union territory when he had heard that seven articles of impeachment were goning to be charged against him. The House of Representatives charge Humphreys with provoking revolt and rebellion. He was convicted on June 26, 1862; being disqualified from holding further office by a 36-0 vote.
