During the Middle Ages, people and government were based on the guidance of the Roman Catholic Church. Since the church persecuted people who had different beliefs, few people dared to venture into science and mathematics.


The Renaissance

Renaissance means "rebirth" or "revival". During this period, Europeans reaquainted themselves with the old classic. One of the most famous people during that time was Leonardo Da Vinci, an artist, scientist and mathematician. He integrated math, science, and art to make very well-known pieces of work.
