Gawain
Gawain was one of Arthurs bravest knights, yet his actions proved hasty. He accidentally killed a woman, and as his punishment, took on a grueling quest. He was to defeat the Green Knight. On his first encounter with this knight, he cut off his head. The knight then picked up his head and rode off. Gawain went in search of the Green Chapel, and he then came to a castle, and was kindly welcomed in. The host proposed that he could stay if he gave back everything he got from the castle. The next three days, the hostess attempted to seduce Gawain, but on each occasion, he only accepted one, two, or three kisses, which he kindly returned to the host for bringing in deer for their meals. After the third day, Gawain left, and encountered the Green Knight. They fought, and then the Green Knight became calm and told Gawain that he knew all about the hostess. Gawain felt that he should not live on, but he then recognized the knight as the host, who hailed him as hero, and the bravest of all knights.
