Lesson #6: Facial feedback hypothesis
|
Develop an understanding of the facial feedback hypothesis and how we might apply this to improving our sense of well being on a day to day basis. |
Method:
(a) When you begin a lecture one day, have students clench a pencil between their teeth. (show them how to do this).
(b) About 10 minutes in to the talk, ask them how they feel compared to the start of the talk.
(b) For a more scientific evaluation, ask all students to rate how good they feel on a scale of 1- 10 at the start of the talk. Deliver a talk for about ten minutes. (try and make it a little humorous but not too hilarious.)
(c) At the end of the talk, ask students to rate how they feel. Compare score changes for both groups. How might you explain any differences between group scores.
