Humor Enhancers

This includes a few ways of increasing the humor in your every day life. They're practical and easy-to-do, if you're serious about using humor to improve your health and general well-being.

Goofy Face Collect funny cartoons, jokes, bumper stickers and anything else that triggers your laughter. Then:

Join mailing lists that send jokes every day, or visit our Daily Funny.

Create a journal in which you write any funny encounters that made you laugh

Set at least half an hour each week to watch a sitcom, stand-up comedy show, comedy movie, etc.

Become aware of any comedy-clubs in your neighbourhood that you could visit - make it a bi-monthly event with a group of friends.

:-) Take your health seriously by being informed in Therapeutic humor - any workshops, conferences or conventions that are occurring.

Make sure you genuinely laugh at the very least once a day - record why you laughed in your journal of Funny Encounters.

Include other people in your Humor Quest: share your Funny File, tell jokes that you hear and spread laughter by laughing.

In a sticky situation, try using one or more Punchlines For Life. You can make up some of your own, or use these classic ones, taken from "The Healing Power of Humor" by Allen Klein (1989).

Exaggerate your tough situations! This helps you see the absurdity: you are given a different perspective, are able to laugh at it, and then you can let it go and move on with your life!

Laughing Look out for any irony in your life: when you end up so far from where you started or from where you wanted to be, empower yourself to find it laughable! To appreciate the irony, you need to examine how something started and how it ended:

Don't forget to laugh out loud!!!
