By keeping a journal, you
can help confront your emotions.

Confront those emotions that you're trying to ignore. Here's what you might do: keep a journal in which you write down your feelings. This journal is a way for you to introspect and examine the stuff that you're made of! By writing down and analyzing your feelings, you become aware of the core reason why you're feeling the way you are and the emotion becomes less intense. Some questions you could ask yourself when you're writing in your journal are:
Take the above example, you might discover that it is not really your friend's boy/girlfriend that you like so much, it's the idea behind it i.e. having a boy/girlfriend. You may discover that you're lonely, and you just want someone. By writing in the journal, you find all this out and solve the problem because you no longer like your best friend's boy/girlfriend and have something else to focus on, namely, finding yourself a boy/girlfriend! Alternatively, you can talk to someone.
