Aura-Soma is a specific type of Colour Therapy. The idea behind Colour Therapy is to restore the body to its natural state of balance so that it can function effectively and to its full potential. Aura-Soma incorporates colour in the use of equilibrium bottles. Each bottle contains a combination of oils, essences, herbs and moisture. The oils and essences make up on colour lying on top of the herbs and moisture, which, together, form another colour. A client chooses bottles of different colour combinations and these are used to heal the client physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

The theory behind this pick 'n choose, is that it's our psyche choosing specific bottles that best describe what's going on unconsciously. Each bottle has different meanings and relates to different parts of the body. The contents of the bottles are used in the therapy, by clients rubbing the oils, herbs, etc onto specific parts of their bodies. These colours on our bodies help us work through issues that the psyche has. It is the specific colours that tell us what these issues are.
