Lorien

Lori Well, the fat lady hasn't sung yet - but she is definitely warming up her larynx! I'm down to the nitty-gritty, one item of which is writing about myself (Jason's orders!).

(relevant stuff…hmm…)
This is the second time I've participated in ThinkQuest. This time round had a totally different dynamic - in 1998 the we lived in the same city, this year we…well…live on the same planet!

Communication has a totally new meaning to me: I have realised how easy I have it off when I can speak one-on-one to a person! Of course, my typing skills have never been better - trying to keep up with my thoughts, Jason's thoughts and Eli's thoughts on a 3-way ICQ chat is quite demanding on my fingers, especially when they're cold and tired!

The first research task I had was the stress section. It became quite amusing, the more and more I researched, the more obvious it became to me that I was highly stressed, to such an extent that I was in grave danger of dying of a massive heart attack (thanks goes to the physio up my road for helping me to relax my neck!).

I am currently in grade 11 at Cedar House High School, which is in Cape Town, South Africa. I am studying English, Math, Science, History, Geography and Xhosa (a South African language)

In the theoretical spare time that I'm supposed to have, I enjoy acting, dancing, singing in the shower, chillin' with my friends and most importantly, laughing! I'm not 100% sure where I'm headed after school, but something that I will enjoy doing (naturally!).

And now for something totally different: My list of thanks.
[Please note: they are in no particular order other than what my subconscious dictates!]

First, my family: Mom, for your patience, constant help and showing me that drafts are all part of the process! Dad, for sharing your computer (I know how painful it was!) and knowledge with me. My sister, Jo, for you inspiring talk that got me moving!

The Family

LoriSecond, all my friends: Thank you so much for understanding that when I said, "Sorry, I've just gotta work!" it wasn't a personal insult and I wasn't avoiding you!

Third, my coach: Sharon, thanks for embarking on this journey with me even though you weren't entirely sure what you were committing yourself to!

And finally, my team members: Jason, thanks for the amusing ICQ chats we had at the oddest hours of the day/night! Eli, thanks for sending me email during our dark days of "no new mails"!!

And that about covers it! *sigh* the sweet call of my pillow!

Till we meet, have a laugh! Lori :-) !
