Speakers
There are two types of speakers that could be discussed in
reference to the computer. There is the one that beeps at you when you
start up the computer. Contrary to most people’s beliefs, a small speaker
makes the PC’s beep. Before the days of Windows and the desire for sound,
speakers were rarely used. The speaker would be of low quality and not
capable of playing loud and high quality sounds. The inside speaker is
connected directly to the motherboard, and usually serves as a notice when
something is going wrong with the computer (except during boot up). Today
PC speakers have became a vital accessory to the user.
The speaker concealed within the case of the computer.
PC Speakers are familiar to most homes, and I don’t mean in
the PC sense. The same technology is used for PC speakers that are used
for home stereo speakers. The main difference is the connection to the
back of the speaker. In addition, the speaker wire generally has three
wires within it, compared to the standard two for normal speaker wire.
Speakers have become a standard addition to the PC today. They
are used to play music. In windows, the user can configure the computer
to play different sounds dependent on their actions. Here is a visual example
of the variety of speakers available to the PC user.
Speakers can resemble anything today. They can range in style from
futuristic, modern, quaint, or to the old standard style.
I hope you enjoyed your break from the more difficult stuff. Let’s go to
a slightly harder part of the tutorial. Let’s journey to the outer limits
and then back to Other Devices - Sound Cards.
