Zip/Jaz Drives
Zip and Jaz Drives are often referred to as large detachable hard disks. They are used to store large volumes of information. One zip drive has to ability read/write on endless amounts of zip disks. Zip and Jaz disks are used to transport large amounts of data from one place to another. External Zip and Jaz drives are usually connected to the computer via a serial port or a port on an expansion board. Internal zip drives are usually connected through the secondary IDE port on the motherboard. Zip drives hold approximately 100MB of data and Jaz drives hold approximately 2MB (the exact space is dependent on the model).
