EEPROM
EEPROM or Electrically Erasable memory was developed to allow the
erasure of ROM chips on the fly. Sending a series of special electrical
signals through the chip erases EEPROM chips. The EEPROM chip is often
referred to as the CMOS BIOS chip in computers. The CMOS chip is constantly
supplied with power by the CMOS battery. The CMOS chip is permanently embedded
with information about the BIOS, but it also temporarily has the settings
for BIOS stored on it.
