Display Concepts
This is a picture of a PCI video card.
Display systems are relatively the same. They all work on the same
theory. When the computer wishes to output a picture on the monitor, it
sends the instructions to the video card. The video card is generally an
expansion board installed in an expansion slot on the motherboard. The
video card interprets the command sent to it and begins "rendering" the
picture into multiple instructions. The new instructions are sent to the
monitor, which displays the picture.
The major difference encountered in display systems is the formatting
used by the video card.
